Back to Basics

Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I have a serious addiction. It's something I've struggled with more strongly in the last couple of years. I own 45 swimsuits. Yes you read that right, 45. (& that's not even taking into account the ones I've thrown out in the last year!) But whenever I go shopping or am looking online I find myself browsing the swimsuit section, even though I have more than enough to last me a lifetime! But I've acquired a bit of knowledge on where to shop & what works & what doesn't. So why would I hoard all that knowledge & not share with all you lovely fellow swimsuit lovers out there!?

I went through a phase buying tons of swimsuits from China on eBay which, don't get me wrong, does have some great stuff! But honestly, you'll probably end up wasting more money than saving because of the poor quality of so many of the swimsuits. You also usually have to go up a size since their sizing is different, so always read that info before buying. But it's a total gamble because sometimes they they look & fit great & other times the sizing is wonky or they are just totally unwearable. So it's really up to you if you want to take that risk. But I personally have started looking elsewhere.

There are so many retailers making cute one pieces these days, so if that's what you feel most comfortable in, it's nice to finally have more options! The places listed below are some of my current go-to's for cute, affordable suits.

(Do be aware that a lot of swimsuits right now don’t have padding, so if that’s not your thing, you can always add your own! They sell inserts at Joann’s and other fabric stores.)

Urban Outfitters & Topshop (definitely a bit more pricy, but worth a splurge every once in awhile)
